Colour Correction

Colour Correction Service

What is Colour Correction?

Here’s a detailed breakdown of why you may need Colour Correction. It all depends on your end goal with your hair. We recommend you consult with our stylists first, but this page will help you sift through the information, be informed and able to make a plan with your stylist.

Going From Dark or Red Hair to Blonde, Platinum, Silver or Pastel Tones:

Achieving blonde on dark or red hair is a process and requires the skill of a strong colourist. We recommend lightening your hair slowly, over multiple appointments, to preserve the strength and integrity of your hair. Even with products like Wellaplex added, this is a process that should not be rushed. Lightening your hair too quickly and aggressively can cause it to break off in chunks and this is definitely something we want to avoid.

Correcting Previous Colour Done Elsewhere:

This could include stripe-y highlights, colour banding (these look like horizontal stripes or blocks of mismatched colour in your hair), blotchy patches, overlapped colour, etc.

Box Dyed Hair (Drug store or grocery store hair colour):

Box dyes and professional hair colour are not the same. While professional hair colour stops processing once it’s reached a certain point, box colours continue to develop the longer they are left on the hair. Compared to professional hair colour, box dyes can also be extremely stubborn to lift out of the hair. Correcting box-dyed hair requires skill and patience to ensure the best results.

It’s Been Months Since You’ve Had Your Dark Regrowth Lightened:

If you have blonde hair and more than a 1/2 inch of dark natural regrowth, you’re going to need a Colour Correction to ensure the best results possible. If your hair has grown longer than 1/2 an inch of re-growth, it is much more difficult to ensure a clean even lift when lightening. Your stylist will need to take extra steps to balance out the different tones in your hair and this requires more time and effort.
