Colour Correction

Colour Correction The Natural Hair Salon

What is Colour Correction?

Colour Correction is needed when achieving your hair goal requires extra steps to fix, balance or lift existing colour. We recommend consulting with our stylists first — this page will help you understand whether you may need this service.

When You May Need Colour Correction

Going from dark or red hair to blonde, platinum, silver or pastel tones

Achieving blonde on dark or red hair is a process requiring the skill of a strong colourist. We recommend lightening your hair slowly, over multiple appointments, to preserve strength and integrity. Lightening too quickly or aggressively can cause hair to break — something we always want to avoid.

Correcting previous colour done elsewhere

This includes stripe-y highlights, colour banding (horizontal stripes or blocks of mismatched colour), blotchy patches, overlapped colour, and similar issues.

Box-dyed hair (drugstore colour)

Box dyes and professional colour are not the same. Box dyes continue to develop the longer they are left on, and can be extremely stubborn to lift out. Correcting box-dyed hair requires skill and patience to ensure the best results.

More than ½ inch of dark regrowth on lightened hair

If your blonde hair has grown more than ½ inch of dark natural regrowth, extra steps are needed to ensure a clean, even lift. Your stylist will take additional time to balance out the differing tones in your hair.
